If you have a new addition to the family, whether it's a birth or welcoming a stepchild or adopted child into your family, then have you considered holding a Naming Ceremony?  It's a non-religious ceremony that can be held at home or at a favourite venue, indoor or outdoor and on any day of the week.

 The strength of this ceremony are declarations of promises from parents, grandparents and supporting adults.  Adding creative touches is one way to stand out from the crowd by including rituals, your family history, hopes and dreams, music, thank you and religious content.  A naming ceremony offers an opportunity to celebrate the unity of a new or existing family.

There are typically three main reasons why families choose to have a baby naming or child ceremony, they are: 

• An expression of commitment to the child - The ceremony provides an opportunity for parents to affirm a duty of care in front of witnesses of close friends and family.
• To appoint supporting adults - Life Mentors or Godparents, who will promise a special relationship with the child. 
• Strengthening family and friendship relationships - by providing the opportunity for the family to be together.
