A pet becomes part of the family
Ceremony offers a way to celebrate our pets and animal companions throughout their lifetimes.
Bringing your new pet home for the first time is an amazing feeling - this creature is dependent on you for warmth, caring and a loving home.
Whether we mark their arrival into our homes with a family welcoming and naming ceremony or formally honour specially trained service dogs as they retire from their working lives, ceremonies for animal companions give us the opportunity to accept responsibility, bestow a name, pay tribute with storytelling or to create a lasting memorial.
I will create a naming ceremony or blessing for your pet and your family and provide a naming certificate. Families can also have a "My Commitment to my Pet contract" for the children to sign, showing their commitment to caring for their new best friend.
Anyone can be involved in the ceremony - it can be particularly nice for children to be involved so they can be part of their new pet's life right from the start.
YES, it is a thing! PET WEDDINGS A barking bride. A panting groom. An intimate backyard ceremony. I now pronounce you…dog and dog?
The popularity of social sites like Pinterest, Instagram and FaceBook make it easy for animal lovers to share their pets love connections with the world.
Pet weddings, whether sincere
expressions of inter-species
affection, arranged marriages
of show animals, or publicity
stunts for animal rescue, are fun, funny—and okay, sometimes downright weird.
For example, some dog marriages are arranged by breeders to celebrate the fruitful pairing of purebred dogs, or a pair of rescue dogs that look so good snuggling up to one another.
A pet wedding ceremony can be a tasteful backyard affair or as extravagant as you want, complete with puppy bridesmaids and a flower dog. In the ceremony, they vow (with the help of a human translator): “I promise, from this day forward, to sniff and to dig with thoughts of only you.”
You don’t have to be rich, famous, or even overly-eccentric to hold a pet wedding. As your Pet Celebrant, I will meet with you to develop a bespoke wedding ceremony specifically for your beloved pets, including poems and music.
Not every butt sniff leads to marriage, but if your dog is in puppy love, why not celebrate with a wedding ceremony? It’s a fun party in honor of your best friend, and a great photo op, to boot.
